Reduced Sugar -- Read the Label

At the grocery store this morning, the carton of almond milk on the right was selling like hot cakes.

It seemed like the logical choice, right? Announced boldly against a bright yellow background all over the front are the words "Reduced Sugar." But note the numbers -- 30 for the one on the left and 40 for the one on the right. Those numbers represent calories per serving. Not a big difference you might figure. But what accounts for the difference?

Well, would you believe sugar? There's more sugar in the carton labelled "Reduced sugar."

In fact there's 3 grams of sugar in the "Reduced Sugar" and 0 grams of sugar in the other carton. Another lesson I suppose in why we need to read the labels.
