Back to Roast Fish and Cornbread

I went with my Veggie Group to Roast Fish and Cornbread on the Island today. There were three of us who went for lunch, and it was excellent. Our only disappointment was that they were out of two of the vegetarian dishes and the one vegan dessert that they have on their menu. But there were a lot of good choices left from what they did have.

What you see above is my selection, which was the Roasted Portabella, consisting of a large portabella mushroom on a whole wheat bun and accompanied by avocado, and tomato and mango chutney. On the side were mixed greens, a tomato medley and some fruit. The menu says that lentils come with this dish as well, but they were out of lentils today. Hopefully, this is a temporary issue and they will continue to offer their full vegetarian menu.

Next at the table was sauteed vegetables over brown and wild rice pilaf.

As described on the menu, this included yellow squash, zucchini, portabellas, onions, broccoli, asparagus and spinach. Our group member who ordered this said it was very delicious.

And our third group member ordered the Ultimate Vegetable Po Boy, which she also said was delicious.

This included sauteed baby bellas, onions, peppers, asparagus and broccoli on a crusted hoagie and garnished with peppers. Again, the menu also said that lentils were part of the garnish.

All in all, it was enjoyable and hopefully all the missing menu items are a temporary thing. I had really been looking forward to their fruit and coconut milk parfait, so it was disappointing to learn they didn't have it.

One note --- They offer 10% off to seniors, but we had to ask for it. The original check they gave us did not include the 10% discount. So, anyone who is eligible for it should ask.
