My Dinner at the Longhorn Steakhouse

Okay, it was my Mom's 87th birthday and my brother and his wife were in town to celebrate with her at her favorite restaurant, the Longhorn Steakhouse. It was my first challenge on the plant-strong diet. But here's what I ordered, and the rest of the table was jealous when my order came:

Apple Harvest Salad to start (without the bacon)
Double order of Seasoned Rice Pilaf as the main course
Covered with Roasted Merlot Mushrooms (on the Steak Additions Menu)
Sweet Potato with Cinnamon and Butter (non-vegan)
Fresh Steamed Asparagus
Brussel Sprouts au Gratin (non-vegan)

Notice that everything wasn't vegan, but on the other hand, it definitely wasn't a Standard American Diet meal either. I enjoyed a very plant-strong diet and kept the animal products to a minimum, with just small amounts of cheese and butter. The point is, it's possible to go out and enjoy yourself with others and still eat a plant-strong diet and have a very tasty and satisfying meal. And it was satisfying. I could not finish my meal, and that's extremely unusual for me, a longstanding member of the Clean Plate Club.

I'll never fear the restaurant scene again!
